The Applied Biomechanics Laboratory is unique in its multi-disciplinary, cross-disciplinary approach to engineering sciences and medicine.

The LBA is a joint Research Unit of Aix-Marseille University and Gustave Eiffel University, located at the heart of the Faculty of Medical and Paramedical Sciences, on the Campus Hospitalo-Universitaire Nord.

With a line of Research focused on the Virtual Human, the LBA is committed to understanding, preventing and repairing trauma, as well as improving care for the human body.

Our research combines clinical and anatomical knowledge, experimental and theoretical approaches to the behavior of human tissues and structures, and digital modeling and simulation.

This scientific strategy is broken down into two complementary areas of applied research:

  • Biomechanics of trauma, which addresses the challenges of understanding trauma, and preventing, treating and repairing injury,
  • Biomechanics and therapeutics , which is useful for designing innovative medical devices, planning and quantifying the evolution of certain pathologies, as well as contributing to training in surgical techniques.
