A fertile multi-, inter- and cross-disciplinary research between doctors, computer scientists, physicists, mathematicians, lawyers and ethicists on medical issues.
In research, the Laënnec institute focuses on the application of digital sciences and artificial intelligence to human health, drawing on the material and human resources of its 21 partner research units and the 30 platforms associated with these different units. It encourages the formation of interdisciplinary research groups bringing together doctors and theoreticians to address medical issues arising in the field. Its scope includes more than 350 permanent staff from Aix-Marseille Université, CNRS, INSERM, IRD, INRAE, Université Gustave Eiffel, AP-HM and IPC.
The Institute supports researchers in responding to ambitious calls for projects (H2020, PIA, PEPR, etc.) and facilitates access to shared platforms. It also funds theses, postdoctoral projects and internships, as well as missions and invitations for researchers within its scope. The Institute encourages the use of research results for practical applications at the patient’s bedside.
The Laënnec institute proposes a number of actions to help researchers, teacher-researchers, engineers, postdoctoral students, PhD students and its laboratories:
Twenty-one units: twelve in health and life sciences, five in science and technology and four in humanities, representing more than 350 permanent staff.
