AMSE is a CNRS Mixed Research Unit (UMR 7316), attached to Aix-Marseille University, with secondary trusteeships for the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), Centrale Méditerranée and Sciences Po Aix.
AMSE is part of a project of excellence, bringing together thecUMR, a School of Economics (Bac+3 to Bac+5 and doctoral program) and a department for disseminating scientific knowledge to non-academic audiences.
Geographically, AMSE is located on two sites: one in Marseille, the other in Aix-en-Provence.
The UMR is associated with the University Research School of the same name. Although administratively distinct, these two entities go hand in hand, forming the pillars of a single economic teaching and research cluster.
AMSE is an original and innovative project focused on the fundamental issues facing our societies. Bringing research and teaching together enables us to train a new generation of economists capable of understanding the transformations of a world in crisis, and putting their knowledge at the service of citizens and decision-makers.
Research is organized around three axes:
- Area 1: Economic crises and the macroeconomic crisis
- Area 2: Development, democratic transitions, migration and growth
- Area 3: Health and environmental crises
Research is structured into four methodological fields:
- Quantitative and dynamic macroeconomics,
- Network theory,
- Econometrics of time series and panel data
- Big data.
