France 2030: Three new schemes launched to make France the pioneer of AI and robotics

+ More info: HERE

Launch of the Robotics Acceleration Research Program

The €30m Robotics Acceleration Research Program, led by CNRS as part of France 2030, aims to structure fundamental research to overcome the scientific and technical barriers to intelligent robotics. By mobilizing research players around cross-disciplinary issues, this program will facilitate convergence between artificial intelligence and robotics. The research carried out should enable French research to position itself on critical technological bricks, with the aim of developing advanced prototypes and solutions that can be transferred to industry. The program includes funding for theses, post-doctorates and research engineer positions; training; strengthening exchanges with industry on the one hand, and with partners in Europe on the other; and leading a unified AI and Robotics community.

Upcoming launch of an "AI Pioneer" funding scheme dedicated to innovative companies for a new generation of high-impact AI projects

This scheme will be aimed at deeptech startups, laboratories or public-private consortia capable of combining scientific excellence and industrial relevance. They will need to have a transformative use case, aligned with strategic economic stakes; a clear technological bet, measurable from the very first months; and access to quality data.

Robotics and intelligent machines" call for expressions of interest

This call for projects invites players and consortia to propose collaborative R&D and Innovation projects on major equipment themes and their associated hardware and software components, in line with the priorities of the national strategy for "native AI" robotics:

  • Efficient, especially in terms of resources and energy;
  • Robust, to guarantee safety and durability;
  • Modular, reconfigurable, reprogrammable and interoperable, to adapt to the right needs at the right cost;
  • User-friendly, with interfaces adapted to untrained operators.

The projects identified will be used to assess the appropriateness of setting up support mechanisms within the framework of dedicated calls for projects:

  • Collaborative flagships on critical robotics functions, enhanced by AI
  • Projects to develop new industrial robotics sectors
